pollock was a genius who invented a powerful brand and he was helped out by some super catchy marketing slogans. there is nothing alky about that. that sorta shit takes a ton of hard work dorks

Whether a genius or not, that is irrelevant. He didn't invent the brand, but he was the brand. He could be as 'alky' as he wanted, being a poster boy for the West (as the ultimate expression of individuality against those horrible commies and their singular mind). The 'ton of hard work' was all the result of the vested interests of a government and media desperate to display just how noble and superior individualistic (read neo-liberal) endeavour supposedly is. He didn't need to do a thing besides play out all the stereotypes of the artist that already existed in the public mind. What a puppet.

okay pollock invented a powerful style that was brandable, still a very hard thing to do
